For the past six years,
Ashley Creek Farm and Sunshine Hill Farm have come
together to put on a Garlic Festival that is
absolutely awesome. Each year it has grown in size and each year it
has become better in ways we never thought possible. As a matter
of fact, the Garlic Fest is the biggest event in our county after the Southwest
Washington Fair.
A family-oriented affair,
there is something for everyone. From food (garlic franks,
garlic pasta, Kettle corn, garlic-beef sandwiches, chicken-garlic crepes, to name a few of our favorites), to animals (miniature
horses, goats, cows...), to musicians, unique crafters
and artisans, young and old alike were surprised at
how fun a garlic fest could be.
Ashley Creek
Farm is the exclusive garlic supplier at the festival. We have over 60
strains of organic garlic, and we sell it in bulk form or in braids, which we
can custom-make at the festival. We also have our own line of garlic salsas,
basting sauces, dipping sauces, pickled garlic, garlic pistachio nuts, and
chardonnay-spiced garlic stuffed olives. Additionally, we offer many
different quality garlic-related products, such as seasonings, mustards, oils,
peelers, roasters, presses, etc. Our friends and family have helped us put
together three cookbooks of garlic recipes. The second cookbook came out
in 2002, and the third cookbook is out in time for the 2004 festival. We have a talented wreath-maker in the family who creates
beautiful garlic wreaths (see picture in the Fest 2000
Fotos) and other garlic ornaments. We try to make it a one-stop shop for all of your garlic needs.
For us at Ashley Creek
Farm, the best thing of all about the garlic festival is
that it brings all of our family members and
friends together. People from all over the continent (Nebraska,
California, South Carolina and even Canada!) come
to help out, and enjoy the festival with us. We could
never put on such a quality event without them, and it
would never be so much fun if they weren't around. We owe
them a great big
